He was a gardener and lived near where the accident occurred. The Coroner's jury yesterday found that it was the result of accident. from The Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Tuesday, May 1, 1883 (page 5): GUTHRIE - On Sunday, April 29, 1883, at 8 am at his late residence, Forward avenue, Twenty-second ward, John GUTHRIE, in the 64th year of his age. Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from his late residence today at 8 am. High mass and requiem at St Stephen's church, Hazelwood, at 9 am. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: John GUTHRIE, aged 63 years 3 months, married, laborer, died April 29, 1883, injuries received on B&O Railroad in 23rd Ward; born in Ireland; lived on Forward Avenue; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on May 1, 1883. >From census and city directories, it appears that he was married to Ellen with children Mary, John, Michael, Jane, Ellen, Lizzie and Kate.
