(Pittsburgh, Pa.): May 11, 1864 Died March 21st, at the residence of her son, Wm. B: Herriott, Esq., in the city of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Rebecca Herriott, of Bridgeville, Upper St. Clair Twp., in the 63d year of her age. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. William Brice, who was among the early settlers in Western Pennsylvania, and the widow of the late John Herriott, who was for twelve years before his decease a highly esteemed and efficient Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian church of Bethany, of which Mrs. H. was for the last forty-two years a consistent and worthy member. The last nine weeks of her life she was with her son and daughter-in-law, in the city of Pittsburgh, where she was faithfully and tenderly nursed. She bore her last illness with great patience and resignation. The consolations of religion, and the sustaining grace of God, were in a comfortable degree granted her. She was cheered and supported as she went down into the dark valley, by the hope of a better resurrection, having a desire to "depart and be with Christ, which is far better." She was kind and affectionate in the various relations of daughter, wife, sister, mother, and friend. In the full possession and clear exercise of her mental powers, she calmly, and without a struggle, closed her eyes in death. Her corpse was brought to her house, in Bridgeville, where the funeral service was performed, and then conveyed to Bethany church, where sleeps the dust of her father, mother, husband, and other relatives...
