These were a few of the victims. from The Pittsburgh Press dated Friday, February 11, 1898 (page 6): DEAD Josiah M'Carey HANNA, aged 32 years, single, of 160 Pearl street. He was employed as a bookkeeper by the Chautauqua Lake Ice company. His remains were recovered from the ruins yesterday and later identified by his brother, William J HANNA. Stanley SIPE, aged 14 years, only son of Mrs Jane SIPE, a widow, killed in his home, 40 Thirteenth street. His body was terribly crushed and mutilated by bricks and beams from the ice company's building. George LOVELESS, 40 years old, married, lived on Division street, Bellevue, and was a member of Bellevue lodge No. 530, F and A M. His remains were sent to his home. (...) The funeral services of George LOVELESS, aged 44 years, will be held at his late residence on Division street, Bellevue, at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Bellevue lodge No. 530, F & A M, and Col T M Bayne lodge No. 1008, I O O F, will attend. The funeral of Stanley SIPE, 14 years old, who lived with his mother, Mrs Jane SIPE, at No. 44 Thirteenth street, will be held at St Patrick's church at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. The remains of Joseph (sic) HANNA, aged 34 years, who was the bookkeeper of the Chautauqua Lake Ice company, were interred this afternoon. The services were held at 2 o'clock at the residence of his mother, Mrs Margaret HANNA, 160 Pearl street, Bloomfield. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Josiah McCarey HANNA, age 32 years, single, bookkeeper, died February 9, 1898, internal injuries by falling building; son of John and Margaret HANNA, both of Ireland; born in Ireland; living at 166 Pearl Street; burial in Allegheny Cemetery on February 11, 1898. Stanley J SIPE, age 14 years, died February 9, 1898, crushed in falling building; son of Stanislas and Annie SIPE; born in Pittsburgh; living on Mulberry Alley; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on February 12, 1898. George LOVELESS, age 40 years, married, clerk, died February 10, 1898, at Homeopathic Hospital; injured in falling building; son of William LOVELESS of Wales; born in Wales; living in Bellevue; burial in Bellevue PA cemetery on February 12, 1898. The Allegheny Cemetery site notes the burial of Josiah McCarey HANNA in Section 17, Lot E, Grave 77. The name of George LOVELESS's wife is Sarah with children Ettie, Gwendolyn, and Ethel. He is most likely the George LOVELESS 1853-1898 buried in the Quail / Bellevue Cemetery listed on Norm Meinert's cemetery pages on Rootsweb.
