He was born in Pittsburg and for a number of years lived on Mt Washington, where he was a member of the Mt Washington Presbyterian church. For twenty years the family has lived at 4421 Davidson street. He is survived by four children. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Andrew Hiram HOLMES, aged 80 years 1 month 17 days, widower, died on March 19, 1900, cerebral emboli; son of Enoch and Susan HOLMES; born in PA; lived at 4421 Davidson Street; burial in Allegheny Cemetery on March 21, 1900.
