He had charge of an electric crane, and a piece of heavy steel struck him when part of the machinery got out of order. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Rankin HOOPER, aged 50 years, married, eleccrane engineer, died December 14, 1901, in Mercy Hospital, injury due to fall; son of John and Sarah HOOPER, both of West Virginia; born in New Cumberland, WV; lived at 613 West Lacock Street, Allegheny; burial in Highwood Cemetery on December 17, 1901. >From the 1900 census, wife is the former Mary WALSH with children Joseph, Howard, and Lawrence. His parents may actually be James & Ann HOOPER of West Virginia.
