Two Boy Scout organizations, troupe No. 1 of Clinton and troop No. 88 of Hazelwood, were camping at a place known as Backbone, on the Raccoon creek, about four miles from Clinton and about nine miles from Oakdale, when a bolt of lightning struck some of the party. These organizations were accompanied by several ladies and Rev. O. J. HUTCHINSON and family. During the heavy downpour everyone took refuge in a tent, but after the rain had ceased some of the party went under an oak tree nearby, where the fatal bolt of lightning took its course, and almost instantly killed Rev. O. J. HUTCHISON, pastor of the Hebron Presbyterian church, and his little daughter, Dorothy, aged 11 years. Mr. HUTCHISON, who was aged 43 years, was born in Warnock, Ohio, where he was married to Miss Elsie WARNOCK, sixteen years ago. He was a graduate of the Western Theological Seminary and had held pastorates at Elder's Ridge, Natrona, Elwood City, Ind. and Hazelwood. He had been pastor of the Hebron church for about four years. The Rev. H. C. HUTCHISON, pastor of the Hazelwood Presbyterian church, and the Rev. W. J. HUTCHISON, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Kittanning are his brothers. The side of Mrs. HUTCHISON's shoe was torn off and Miss May HOLMES who held the hands of Dorothy HUTCHISON was severely burned on one side of her body. The injured were taken to their homes after first aid treatment had been given by the Scouts. A nephew of Mr. J. R. PARK of Union avenue, Oakdale was one of the Scouts who was also burned and shocked by the lightning.
