Driving a team down a hill near this place, he fell and the wagon wheel ran over his leg and fractures it in a most shocking manner. He suffered excrutiating pain until the following Saturday, when he expired, a mortification having previously taken place. Mr. Irwin was in the forty fourth year of his age. He has left a widow and six small children to lament the loss of a tender husband, and an affectionate and indulgent parent. He always sustained the character of an honest man, and possessed a most benevolent heart and friendly disposition. His remains were interred on Sunday morning in the Presbyterian church yard, attended by a numerous concourse of citizens.
