Robert M. Kuhns, 72, of Dormont (formerly of Ligonier) died Sunday, Dec. 21,
1997, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 12, 1925, in Ligonier
Township, he was a son of the late Harry D. and Ethel (Roadman) Kuhns. Prior to
his retirement, he had been employed as a superintendent for Wilson Construction
Co., Johnstown. Bob was an avid golfer, and a lifelong member of Ligonier
Country Club, and held the national record for most years (19) as a golf club
champion at a private golf club. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and
fishing. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Nancy Lou
(Simler) Kuhns (1989) and Lillian Kuhns (1948); a sister, Pauline Kloock, and
two brothers, Donald and Harry Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Susan K. Banks
of Dormont and Roberta K. Peterson of Binghamton, N. Y.; two sons, Terry L (and
his wife, Melissa) Kuhns of Tracy, Calif., and Mark D. (and his wife, Janet)
Kuhns of Plum Boro; seven grandchildren, and three sisters, Imogene Greene and
Edna Overcash, both of Blanchard, Idaho, and Dorothy Barkley of Acme. Visitation
will be 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday In J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home Inc., 144 E. Main
St., Ligonier. Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with
the Rev. John J. McClure officiating. Burial will be in Ligonier Valley
Cemetery, Ligonier Township. Memorial gifts may be sent to Ligonier Valley Meals
on Wheels, PO Box 119, Ligonier, PA 15658.
