Thomas J KELLY of Jones avenue, aged 26 years, was struck by a train and instantly killed, while attempting to cross the tracks at that point. The body was taken to the morgue and then removed to the home of the father of deceased on Jones avenue. KELLY was a fine looking young man. He was well known along Penn avenue, was a great favorite. He was night watchman at the Monongahela house for the past three years, and at the time of the burning of that hostelry, it was thought he had perished in the fire, as he was lying asleep in an upper story of the building. He was married about six months ago to Ella MORTON, then employed at the Monongahela house, and has since lived with his father, on Jones avenue, near Twenty-eighth street. KELLY had just been granted a position as sub-letter carrier, and would have gone on duty this evening. He had the application in his pocket at the time he was killed. An inquest will be held tomorrow morning. from The Pittsburgh Dispatch dated Thursday, May 8, 1890 (page 2): Thomas J KELLY, for three years night watchman at the Monongahela House, living on Jones avenue, was instantly killed by a Pennsylvania Railroad train at Seventeenth street yesterday morning. Six months ago he was married to Miss Nellie MARTIN, and was to have begun work yesterday as a sub-letter carrier.
