All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Kelly Selcher selcherkid@hotmail.com June 2, 2005, 10:22 pm Sharpsburg and Etna Herald EDWIN KIDD, FORMER RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY The death of Edwin Kidd for many years a resident of Sharpsburg, at his late home, 52 Overbrook avenue, Eastwood Farms, Wilkinsburg, Wednesday morning was received in the borough with much sorrow. Mr. Kidd had been sick for about ten days, pneumonia causing his death. He was 78 years of age. Mr. Kidd was born in Yorkshire, England and came to this country in 1869 and located in Boston. Later he went to Worcester. In 1892 he came to Sharpsburg with Mr. George P. Loomis established the Globe Wire Co. with which he remained until a few years ago when he retired on account of advancing years. During his long residence in Sharpsburg, Mr. Kidd made many friends because of his generous and kindly disposition. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Kidd leaves, besides his widow Margaret Curry (should be Gurry) Kidd, five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Wenzel, Mrs. Alice A. Hoffman, Mrs. Lottie Hoskinson, Mrs. Helen Wakefield, and Mrs. Ida McAdams; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at his late residence this evening in charge of Rev. D. R. Montgomery. Interment tommorow at ten o'clock, in charge of Zeradatha lodge, Free and Accepted Masons.
