River The body of Herman Kirschke, aged 71 years, for many years a resident of this city and well known here, was found floating in the Monongahela River, at the upper end of Glassport, Sunday morning about 11 o'clock. How the man met his death is not known, but he was last seen alive on Friday evening about 6 o'clock. Mr. Kirschke was employed at the Woods Mill for a number of years, retiring about four years ago. His wife, Mrs. Adaline Kirschke, died March 26, 1915. He was born in Germany, but had resided in this country for 40 years, practically all of that time being spent in this city. He is survived by one son, Adolph Kirschke, of this city; two step-daughters, Mrs. Frederick Bathe and Mrs. Bernard Orloskey, of this city, and by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary's R. C Church. The body was removed to Volk's undertaking rooms, but no funeral arrangements have been announced. McKeesport Daily News, August 19, 1918, page 6
