Mr. Long was born at New Castle on-Tyne, England, and came to America 45 years ago, settling in this city. He was connected in official position with the mines of the S. S. Brown Company and Brown Brothers, and for eight years with the O'Neil Coal company, all of Monongahela. He went to Latrobe about 24 years ago to take up the position of mine foreman of the Frick mines at that place. He had been a resident of East Pittsburgh for the past 11 years and during that time was employed by the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing company. He was married 43 years ago at Sharon, Pa., to Miss Jane Kane, of that place. Mr. Long leaves a widow and the following children: Michael J., John A., and Stephen A., of East Pittsburgh; Patrick J., of Oak Hill, Mrs. Robert Munro, of East Pittsburgh, and Mrs. George Nicely, of Greensburg, Pa.
