His body was horribly mangled by the wheels passing over him. (under an article titled, Boy's Burns Prove Fatal) from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: John N LINGLE, age 20 years, married, switchman, died October 8, 1899, shock due to injuries on the PRR; son of Nicholas and Anna LINGLE; born in Pittsburgh; lived at 109 Somers Street; burial in Highwood Cemetery on October 11, 1899. Census suggests that his wife was Emma JOHNSON with daughter Ethel.
