All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/allegheny/ ________________________________________________ from The Pittsburgh Press dated Tuesday, November 3, 1896 (page 5): Oscar LUND, who is believed to have lived in Ridgway or Warren, Pa., was found dead on the Allegheny Valley railroad, near Thirty-fifth street, at 6:50 last night. His body was horribly mangled. The man had evidently been run over by a train, although his body was found 50 feet from the railroad tracks. Deputy Coroner Moreland found in the pockets a letter addressed to Oscar LUND, written by a brother, John A LUND, a tailor, at Ridgway. A photograph of the dead man, shears and other tools used by tailors, together with $6.40, were also found in the pockets. A telegram was sent to John A LUND, notifying him of his brother's death. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Oscar F LUND, aged 26 years, single, tailor, died November 2, 1896, instantly killed on the AVRR near 35th Street; son of Joseph P and Caroline LUND (both of Sweden); born in Sweden; burial in Warren, Pa.
