About 10 o'clock yesterday morning a fatal accident occurred on the West Penn railroad, near Guyasuta station, one mile above Sharpsburg. The engineer of the Blairsville express west, noticed a team crossing the track, and whistled down brakes, but was unable to check the train sufficiently to prevent a collision. The wagon was broken up, one of the horses killed instantly and the other fatally hurt. The driver, Joseph Lutz, was tossed in the air and mortally injured. The train was stopped and the wounded man carried into the glass house of Tibby Bros., but he died before medical aid could reach him. He was a single man, about 26 years of age, and was driving for a brother-in-law named John Wick, of Ross station. He was on his way to Sharpsburg with a wagon full of vegetables. His parents reside at Sharpsburg. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, February 11, 1880
