County detectives and members of the state police said they believed jealousy was the motive of the crime. LYONS' companions at the time he was shot are said to have been Mary HARALLA, Mary PERRIN, Emma CASTELLI and her sister and William PHILLIPS, all of Cuddy Post office--Treveskyn district, which is three miles west of Bridgeville. It is said Sunday evening that none of those with LYONS recognized the man who did the shooting, although all, it is alleged, witnessed the tragedy. According to information given in Treveskyn Saturday night, the six young persons, four girls and two young men, were sitting on the porch of the store of Abraham MONSUR. Under the ground floor are a barber shop and pool room. A long pair of steps led to the porch from the pool room. The slayer is said to have reached the porch by way of these steps. LYONS did not regain consciousness. He is said to have borne an excellent reputation in the community. He resided with his mother and sisters and is said to have been their sole support. He was a miner. Reports at Cuddy Post office and Treveskyn were to the effect one of the girls with LYONS remarked just before the shooting: "You had better be careful," referring to the possibility of trouble with a rival.
