from The Gazette Times dated Sunday, August 27, 1911:
 
David MARKOWITZ, son of Sallie and the late Leopold MARKOWITZ, died 
Friday in Detroit, Mich., after a brief illness. He had been in 
business in Detroit for three years. He was well known in Pittsburgh, 
where he spent the greater part of his life. He is survived by three 
sisters, Mrs J GLANZ, Mrs L GOTT?IEB, and Mrs J WISE, and two brothers, 
Edward MARKOWITZ of Cleveland, O., and Max MARKOWITZ of Indianapolis, 
Ind. He was a member of the Detroit Lodge No. 34, BPO Elks.
