She with her mother and a sister attempted to cross the track when they saw the express coming along. The girl who was killed with great heroism pushed her mother and sister off the track in time to save their lives, but was herself struck and killed. A verdict of accidental death was returned. (under an article titled, Breveties) from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Laura Luella MYERS, age 16 years, single, died July 28, 1882, struck by train on Pennsylvania Railroad at Roup's Station; daughter of Jacob and Mary MYERS; born in Pittsburgh; lived on Harrison Street; burial in Homewood Cemetery on July 30, 1882. Homewood Cemetery notes a Laura L MEYERS burial in Section 3, Lot 25.
