George D. Naughton, 40-year-old Pennsylvania Motor Police corporal killed Monday during a four-hour gun battle at Clarksville, Pa., will be given funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 in Sharpsburg, the town of his birth. Naughton was one of a corps of police officers who risked their lives to arrest Frank Palanzo, alias Plienta, 54, who had beaten and ejected his wife and children, and barricaded himself in the house. He allegedly fired a bullet into Naughton's heart killing him instantly. The funeral will be held at the Holzheimer and Bock chapel, 820 Main street, Sharpsburg, followed by interment in Greenwood cemetery. A large delegation of Naughton's fellow members in American Legion Post 106 will attend the service. Naughton joined the state police in 1926.
