He lost one leg and had the other badly bruised. from The Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Tuesday, June 26, 1883 (page 4): John NOLAN, the boy who was run over on the Allegheny Valley railroad on Saturday, died Sunday night from the effects of his injuries. A coroner's jury found that it was an accident. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: John NOLAN, aged 12 years 5 months, died June 24, 1883, injuries received on Allegheny Valley Railroad at 36th Street crossing on June 23rd; son of Jeremiah and Catherine NOLAN; born in Pittsburgh; lived on 38th Street; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on June 29, 1883.
