from The Pittsburgh Press dated Friday, August 31 1888  (page 5):

Mrs Mary PENDERGAST, a widow aged 63 years, was found dead in bed at
her home on Thirty-ninth street.  Cause, heart disease.

from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records:

Mary PENDERGAST, aged 63 years, widow, died August 30 1888, heart
failure; born in Ireland; lived at rear 238 39th Street, 15th Ward;
burial in St Mary's Cemetery on August 31 1888.

NOTES:
City directory identifies her as widow of Peter.
