PETERSON Military rites are being planned by the Burt Foster Post of the American Legion for Pfc. David Clyde Peterson, 26, who was killed on June 6, 1944, during a beachhead operation in France. The soldier was born on Aug. 31, 1917, in McKeesport, the son of Mrs. Mary A. Farmer Peterson of 525 Sixth Ave. and the late Clyde B. Peterson. A member of Company C of the 38th Infantry regiment, Second Division, he entered the Army in January, 1941. He was a graduate of St Peter's High School and a former employee of the National Tube Co. Friends are being received at the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler Funeral Home, and the services are arranged for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. The officiating clergyman will be the Rev. P. J. O'Connor, and interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Robert H. of McKeesport, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Beuten of Duquesne. McKeesport Daily News, December 15, 1947, page 7
