Old Resident Dead. John F. Prager Passes Away at Ripe Old Age. Was Born in 1821. John F. Prager, aged 89 years, one of the oldest and best known residents of this vicinity and the oldest member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Sharpsburg, died early yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Wittman, wife of J.J. Wittman, on Eight street. Mr. Prager was born in Germany, December 11, 1821, and came to America in the spring of 1846, settling in Philadelphia where he lived for two years. He then moved to Etna and opened a furniture store, being a cabinet-maker by trade. Later he bought a farm in O'Hara township near the filtration plant at Aspinwall, and lived on it for 51 years. For a number of years he lived a retired life residing with his daughter. He leaves four children, Mrs. Mary Bowerly, of West Etna; Charles Prager, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Wittman and Edward Prager, of O'Hara township. His wife died in 1900. Seventeen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren also survive. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Saturday) morning at nine o'clock. Services in St. Mary's church.
