Mrs L DALY also a Johnstown sufferer, aged about 48, afflicted with pneumonia, died at the Mercy to-day. from The Pittsburg Dispatch dated Saturday, June 8 1889 (page 2): The Relief Committee furnished transportation for Mrs George R SLICK, whose husband died in Mercy Hospital yesterday. She will take his remains to Johnstown for burial. Mr SLICK was the father-in-law of District Attorney ROSE of Cambria county, who was drowned in the flood. (. . . ) Mrs Annie DAILY, one of the Johnstown refugees brought to Mercy Hospital early yesterday morning, has become demented from the loss of her only son, making four now in the hospital in the same condition. from The Pittsburg Dispatch dated Sunday, June 9 1889 (page 2): Alexander RECKE died of blood poisoning at Homeopathic Hospital yesterday. This is the man who stood up in the debris for two days with a spike driven into his leg and entirely without sustenance. His leg was amputated, but it was too late to save his life. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Alexander RECKE, aged 35 years, married, storekeeper, died June 7 1889 at Mercy Hospital, exhaustion due to exposure at Johnstown & amputation of thigh; born in Johnstown PA; burial in Johnstown PA cemetery on June 10 1889. Anna DALY, aged 35 years, widow, died June 7 1889 at Mercy Hospital, hemiplegia & exhaustion at Johnstown; born in Scotland; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on June 9 1889. George R SLICK, aged 60 years, married, laborer, died June 7 1889 at Mercy Hospital, pneumonia and exposure at Johnstown; born in Pennsylvania; interment at a Johnstown PA cemetery on June 8 1889. NOTES: Census records suggest that Anna was the wife of Hugh DALY and had two children, Francis/Frank and Mary Ann; census age places her close to 50 years at time of death. Johnstown Flood Museum sources note that Frank also perished in the flood, and their surname is recorded as DAILY. Same sources also suggest that Frank and Ann were buried in Lower Yoder Catholic Cemetery in Cambria County PA. Johnstown Flood Museum sources note that Alexander's wife was among the missing/never found and that he is buried in Sandyvale Cemetery in Cambria County PA. Census records show George's wife as Mary with children Wellington, Harry, Fanny, and George Jr. Johnstown Flood Museum sources note burial in Grandview Cemetery at Cambria County, PA.
