She will be buried by the department of charities today. In December last, Mrs REYNOLDS was sent to the Allegheny General hospital by the charity department, but subsequently removed to the Allegheny city home as an incurable. Ever since her husband's death she has been receiving a widow's pension of $8 per month, her husband having served in the late war. According to the rules of the city home, any of the inmates receiving a pension are required to turn the money over to the home. Mrs REYNOLDS became dissatisfied. She left the home several weeks ago, and had since been living with Mrs COFFEE. The husband of the deceased was at one time proprietor of the largest grocery stores in Pittsburg. That was in 1845. Later he embarked in the lumber business but failed in 1857. His name will be recalled by many old Pittsburg men. from the Allegheny City Death Records: Jane REYNOLDS, age 66 years, widowed, nurse, died October 25, 1895, of enteritis; born in Allegheny City; lived at 55 Howard Street; burial in St Mary's Cemetery on October 26, 1895. She is the former Jane LYON or LYONS. I have her pension application file for her husband's service. Her husband is Oliver Perry REYNOLDS, who died in 1867. His parents were Lot Owings REYNOLDS and Lucretia Ann NEAL. He had two known siblings, Charles C REYNOLDS and James Sidney REYNOLDS. She had three known children: Olive Perry REYNOLDS who married William A HEYL and died in Novmeber 1887; Lucretia REYNOLDS who married Robert McCREADY and died in January 1929; and Lot Charles REYNOLDS, born about 1851 (I lose track of him after 1887).
