(under an article titled, Three Men Run Down) from The Pittsburgh Press dated Monday, November 25, 1901 (page 4): As a result of injuries received while at work last Friday, James RUSSELL, assistant yardmaster at Union depot, died at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the West Penn Hospital. While running along the platform he stumbled and fell into an opening where the foundations for the new train shed are being put in, alighting on his head and fracturing his skull. He resided on Seventh avenue, Carnegie, where he had lived for 10 years. He was one of the most widely known railroaders in the State, having been employed on the roads running out of Pittsburgh all his life. He is survived by his wife and three brothers. The funeral will take place at Crafton Methodist Episcopal Church Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at First Methodist Episcopal Church, Carnegie, Pa., on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend. (Warren, O, and New Castle, Pa., papers please copy.) from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: James RUSSELL, about 42 years, married, assistant yard master for PRC, died November 24, 1901, at West Penn Hospital, railroad accident; son of John and Anna RUSSELL, both of Scotland; born in Scotland; burial in a Carnegie PA cemetery on November 26, 1901. Possible that he is the James Russell 1850-1901 interred in Chartiers Cemetery in Carnegie.
