from The Pittsburg Times dated Friday, December 27, 1895:
 
William SCHIRMER died Wednesday at his home, 10 Congress street, 
of pneumonia, aged 72. He came from Hesse-Cassel 50 years ago, 
and became a jeweler in Pittsburg. He retired from this line, 
and engaged in the hardware trade. A son, W G SCHIRMER, survives 
him. He was a director of the Fifth Avenue bank and of the 
Germania Insurance company.
