Funeral services at his late residence, 507 Cato street, Thursday at 2 pm. Interment private later. from The Pittsburgh Press dated Thursday, July 18, 1901 (page 2): Capt Levi SHOOK, a well-known iron manufacturer, and formerly a riverman, died yesterday (sic) at his home, 507 Cato street, Oakland, at the age of 63 years. During his career as a riverman, he had several boats plying in the Southern trade. He was one of the organizers of the Shook - Anderson company, a firm of iron workers whose plant was absorbed eight months ago by a combine. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs J A CAREY and Miss Daisy SHOOK. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock today. Interment will be private later. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Levi SHOOK, age 62 years 11 months 16 days, married, engineer, died July 16, 1901, died from locomotion axtaxia; son of John and Catherine SHOOK; born in Readstone PA; living at 507 Cato Street, burial in Allegheny Cemetery on July 18, 1901. Allegheny Cemetery site notes that Levi SHOOK is buried in Section 24, Lot 33. Wife is the former Virginia BALDWIN. The married daughter's name is Harriett, wife of James A CAREY.
