He died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the Farmers and Merchants Picnic at Alcola Park, near New Bethlehem. Mr. Silvis was born Nov. 9, 1898, in Porter Twp., Clarion County, a son of Warren and the late Ella (Stahlman) Silvis. He had lived in the Natrona Heights area since 1922, and was a stationary engine operator in NO. 2 Department, Allegheny Ludlum Steel, where he was employed for th past 40 years. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights, Veterans Club of Allegheny Ludlum Steel and was a 40-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Marthabell) Riemer of Saxonburg; a son, Larry of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Merle Silvis of New Bethlehem, Paul Silvis of St. Charles. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township.
