Peter SOFFEL, aged 83, retired shoe merchant of Mt. Washington and a 
resident of Pittsburgh 69 years, died Saturday morning, December 3, 1921, in 
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred A. FICHTEL, 119 Sycamore street, Mt. 
Washington. He was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1952, 
settling in the South Hills district where he engaged in the shoe 
merchandising business. He retired in 1904. Mr. SOFFEL was a member of the 
First German Evangelical Protestant Church of Pittsburgh and the Independent 
Order of Odd Fellows. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. FICHTEL and Mrs. G. W. 
SMITH of McDonald; eight sons, Peter K. SOFFEL of Canton, O., Alfred E. 
SOFFEL of Los Angeles, Herman E. SOFFEL of Detroit, George H. SOFFEL, Jacob 
SOFFEL, Samuel SOFFE, Walter A. SOFFEL and O. R. SOFFEL of Pittsburgh and 14 
grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday evening, December 5, at 8 
o'clock. Funeral was private Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock.
