The last named was 19 years of age and was employed by the yard as clerk. The accident occurred at 2 pm yesterday and the injured man died later at the West Penn hospital. (under an article titled, Coroner's Deputies Probing Many Deaths) from The Pittsburgh Press dated Tuesday, February 14, 1905 (page 7): RAILROAD CLERK HURT Howard W STANGE, age 19 years, of No. 3029 Arlington avenue, died at the West Penn Hospital at 3 o'clock this morning from injuries received while riding in a gondola car at Thompson Station of the Pittsburg, Virginia, & Charleston Railroad yesterday. He was a clerk employed by the railroad and had occasion to board a gondola car which was filled with steel bars. The cars were shunted through the yards, and the bumping caused a large steel bar to be dislodged. It fell on STANGE's legs, badly crushing them. He was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon. He had been employed by the railroad for the last year. from The Pittsburgh Press dated Wednesday, February 15, 1905 (page 13): STANG - On Tuesday, February 14, 1905, at 1:30 am, Howard STANG, son of John F and the late Laura STANG (nee MASON), age 19 years, 5 months, 14 days. Funeral services at his late residence, 3028 Arlington avenue, South Side, Pittsburg, on Thursday, February 16 at 2 pm.
