Miss Martha THOMPSON, age 70 years, died at her home in Hickory, 
Tuesday, January 25th, 1921, at noon following an illness of one month due 
to an attack of pneumonia. A daughter of James and Martha HAMMOND THOMPSON, 
she was born August, 1851, and had spent her entire life in Mt. Pleasant 
township. She was the last of a family of 12 children. From early youth 
she was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian church of Hickory. 
Three nieces and one nephew survive: Mrs. J. L. CUMMINGS and Miss Maud 
PHILLIPS, of Washington; Mrs. Walter SMITH, of Amity, and J. L. MORGAN, of 
Mirabile, Mo. Funeral services will be held (this) Thursday afternoon at 2 
o'clock in the United Presbyterian church in charge of Rev. Charles 
STUNKARD, pastor. Interment will be in the Hickory cemetery.
