Mrs. Mary Wolk, mother of Councilman A. L. Wolk and a leader in Jewish women's
affairs, died last night in Montefiore Hospital, an institution she helped
establish. She was 71. Mrs. Wolk, of 5535 Darlington Rd., was an organizer of
the Hebrew Ladies Hospital Aid Society, which founded the hospital. She recently
was appointed a life trustee of the hospital. She was a past vice president and
a member of the board of the society, a trustee of the Hadassah. past president
and director of the Home of Shelter and a director of the Family Welfare.
Funeral will be tomorrow at 2 p. m. from the Ralph Schugar Funeral Home, 5509
Center Ave. Burial will be in B'nai Israel Synagogue Cemetery. She is survived
by her husband, William; three sons: Councilman W. Jerome and Mayer Wolk: four
daughters: Mrs. Michael Levine, Mrs. Harry Altman of East Liverpool, O., Mrs.
Raymond L. Hoechstetter and Miss Betty Wolk; two sisters, Mrs. Simon Cohen of
Cleveland and Mrs. A. Frank of New Castle, and 11 grandchildren.
