He was a brakeman on the Pittsburg & Lake Erie railroad, and while making a coupling his foot caught in a frog and a portion of the train ran over him. (under an article titled, Heavy Casualty List) from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: Charles Walter WEIGER, age about 20 years, single, brakeman, died May 15, 1898, at West Penn Hospital, shock due to railroad injury; son of Ray and Dora WEIGER; born in PA; lived in Monaca, PA; burial in a Monaca PA cemetery on May 17, 1898. Census records suggests that the surname is some variation of WEIGEL.
