All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/allegheny/ ________________________________________________ Taken from McDonald Pa Outlook 15 Dec 1921 John WEIR, a former chief engineer of the Carnegie Steel Co. plant at McKees Rocks, died Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 1921, at his home, 911 First street, McKees Rocks, after an illness of two years. Mr. WEIR was born in Ireland and immigrated to this country 40 years ago, going to McDonald, Pa., where he resided until 20 years ago, when he moved to McKees Rocks. He was connected with various coal companies as an engineer at McDonald, and until his retirement three years ago was with the Carnegie Steel Co. 12 years. He was well known in fraternal organizations, having been a member of the Knights of Malta, Orangemen, Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythias at the time of his death. Besides his widow, Mrs. Mary Jane JOHNSTON, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Margaret GRUITT, and three sons, Carson, William and Adam, all of Pittsburgh, also a brother, Thomas WEIR and a sister, Mrs. Frank JOHNSTON, both of Laurel Hill. Funeral services were held from his late home Friday afternoon at 2:30. Interment was in the McKees Rocks cemetery.
