The following were among the victims of that accident. ** from The Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Wednesday, October 13, 1880 (page 4): WERNEBURG - On Sunday evening, October 10th, at 4 pm, Emma P, daughter of Charles and Emelia WERNEBURG and sister-in-law of M V NA--R, aged 21 years. The friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday afternoon, Oct 13, at 2 o'clock, from the residence of her parents, 43d street, above Butler. from The Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Wednesday, October 27, 1880 (page 4): Still the dreadful death roll of victims of the disaster of Twenty-eighth street increases. The latest victim is Miss Kate C LESLIE, who at the time was noted among the seriously injured. She was wounded in the limbs and arms, and was also very seriously scalded. She was taken to the West Penn Hospital and every effort made to alleviate her sufferings and restore her. It was impossible to remove her, but she had the --------- attention of loving friends and the most skillful physicians and nurses. It was all in vain, however, and yesterday at five o'clock death came and her spirit took its flight. The deceased was the step-daughter of Mr ARCHER (sic) of the East End and was a young lady of most estimable character, whose death will be a source of sincere sorrow among a multitude of friends. The time of the funeral will be announced hereafter. from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: George P CUMMINGS, age 30 years, single, bookkeeper, died October 11, 1880; born in Bangor, Maine; lived on Ellsworth Avenue; burial in Bangor, Maine on October 15, 1880. Homer S KEPPEL, age 17 years 6 months, single, clerk, died October 10, 1880; son of Alexander M and Margaret J KEPPEL; born in Pittsburgh; lived in the 21st Ward; burial in Homewood Cemetery on October 11, 1880. (Alexander M KEPPEL is the owner of a plot in Section 7, Lot 49.) Catherine E LESLIE, age 21 years, single, died October 26, 1880, from exhaustion; born in Pittsburgh; lived on Scott Street; burial in Homewood Cemetery on October 28, 1880. Emma P WERNEBURG, age 21 years, single, died October 10, 1880; daughter of Charles and Emelia WERNEBURG; born in Pittsburgh; lived on 43rd Street; burial in Allegheny Cemetery on October 13, 1880. George CUMMINGS was boarding with the family of Jane KEMP and was reported to be a brother-in-law of John T DENNISTON. Kate LESLIE is the stepdaugher of Edward ACKER and the daughter of James Preston & Alice LESLIE.
