Wittmann, a life-long and one of the best-known residents of Sharpsburg, died this morning at his residence on Clifton avenue after five weeks' illness. He was 63 years of age. Mr. Wittmann was born in Barida and with his parents came to Sharpsburg when he was 12 years of age and lived here since 1883. Mr. Wittmann married Elizabeth Brader and ten children blessed their union, 9 of whom are living. He was a prominent and devout member of St. Mary's church, also a member of St. Mary's lyceum, Knight of St. George, Knight of Columbus, and a director of St. Joseph's Orphan Asylum. Some years ago Mr. Wittmann was a delegate to Rome, where he met the Pope. He will be buried from his home Monday morning. Services at the solemn requiem mass in St. Mary's church.
