This morning death again entered the home of John M. Wittman. Joseph Wittman, 
father of John Wittman who died Wednesday, passed away this morning at 6:45 
after a long illness in his 84th year. The elder Mr. Wittman and his wife had 
made their home with the son. The deceased's death was not unexpected but 
following so closely that of his son makes it especially sad for the family. 
He was born in Germany and came to Sharpsburg in 1861 and has lived here 
since. He was a member of St. Mary's church and in his earlier years acive in 
the church work. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Joseph J. and Michael 
V. and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Boyer. The funeral will take place Sunday 
afternoon.
