Mrs. Barbara Wittmann, widow of Joseph Wittman, died Tuesday at her late home, 
Garner and Altmeyer streets. Mrs. Wittman was born in Bavaria 84 years ago. 
She came to this country in 1861, locating in Sharpsburg, and had resided here 
since. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Church and was always present at 
every service when her health permitted. Joseph Wittman, her husband, and John 
Wittman, a son, died two years ago. Three children survive, Joseph J. Wittman, 
a former Councilman of Sharpsburg; Michael V. Wittman and Mrs. Mary Boyer. 
There are 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral took place 
yesterday morning. Requiem high mass in St. Mary's Church.
