His body was cut in two. (under an article titled, Echoes of the Night) from The Pittsburgh Press dated Thursday, July 13, 1893 (page 7): David YOW (sic), a brakeman on the Pennsylvania railroad, was instantly killed on Twenty-eighth street yesterday while coupling cars. Accidental death was the verdict. (under an article titled, Accidental Death) from the City of Pittsburgh Death Records: David YAW, age 48 years, married, brakeman, died July 12, 1893, crushed on the PRR; son of John and Johanna YAW; born in Ohio; lived on Susquehanna Street; burial in Homewood Cemetery on July 13, 1893. Homewood Cemetery lists David YAW as a plot owner of Section 10, Lot 13 NW 1/4. David's headstone reads that he was born in May 1837, making him 56 years of age at his death (corresponds with census listings). He served in the Civil War in Co. G, 78th Inf Ohio. The base of his headstone reads 'Co. G. O. V. V. I.' His wife is Isabella MOORE (March 1841 - March 1915). They did not have any children.
