Atop the building is a 3,250,000 candlepower aerial beacon which can be seen for more than 75 miles from Pittsburgh on clear nights. Beneath this large beacon is a flashing red neon light which spells the word "Pittsburgh" in morse code. Aviators can see this light approximately 150 miles away.
