Written: November 23, 1829 November 23, 1829 In the name of God Amen I Andrew Barr of Pine township & Aleghany County being weak in body but Sound in Judgment & understanding knowing that it is apointed unto all men once to die & after that to come to judg- ment to make my last will & testament in the folowing maner viz 1st I recomend my soul to God who gave it & my body to be buirred in A christian maner out of the first of my effects 2nd at present I leave & bequeth to my Son John Barr 100 Acres of my land on the North side of of my plantation where he now lives 3rd I leave & bequeth at present to my son James Barr 100 Acres of my plantation west to John the line to run from East to west starting at John Dod’s line 4th I leave & bequeath the reminder of my plantation to my Wife & Daughter Jeane until Jeane gets married or till her death which ever comes first & then to be divi’d equaly betwixt my two sons John & James Barr & each of them to pay Jeane ??fty Dollars when they get possession of the land as the large timber is mostly on Jameses part he he wants is not to hinder John to get what timber ^ fer shingles clapboards or sawlogs for his own use but no to Sell or give away 5th I leave & bequeth to my son James Barr my young foal 6yh I leave & bequeth to Andrew Barr son to John Barr one Cow I leave all the remainder of my moavable property ^ to my wife & Daughter Jeane & if my wife dies before Jeane gets married all is to be Jeans without & within This I leave as my last will & testament Witness my hand & seal Renouncing all former wills in presence of John Dickson Andrew Barr (signed) Robert Tods John Dods Alleghany County ss On the 7th day of April AD 1830, per- sonally appeared before me John M. Snowden Register for the probate of Wills in and for said County, John Dickson and John Dods To of the subscribing witnesses to the above will and being duly sworn according to law did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Andrew Barr, the testator sign, seal, publish pronounce and declare the foregoing Instrument or writing as and for the last will and testament, and that at the time of so doing he was of perfect and sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief John M.
