Henry Shook 1843 The last Will and Testament of Henry Shook of Wilkins Township in Allegheny County, state of Pennsylvania. I Henry Shook considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory (Blessed be God for the same) do publish this my last will and Testament in manner following: that is to say: First: If it please God that my beloved wife Catharing survives me, it is my will that she retain possession of the mansion house in which I now live, during her natural lifetime and that she receive all the profits of the,,,,,,of the farm on which I now reside, either in money rent or share of the crops as the executors to be hereinafter appointed may on consultation with her think.......Said executors shall rent or give out the farm on such conditions shall be most advantageous to her. Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary, one bed and bedding, one cow, one spinning wheel, a chest and its contentss, a side saddle and a loom and tacklings. Item. I give and bequeath to my .....and daughter Martha who is living with me, one cow, one bed and bedding, spinning wheel, the bureau she now claims and all the wearing apparel she may have at the time of my decease. I will that my personal property such as as horses, cows, sheep, hogs, household furniture, and farming utensils, which have not been hereby bequeathed, and which my said heirs do not wish to retain be sold at publick vendors equally divided among my children and grand daughter Martha share and share alike, the share of deceased son John to be equally divided among his children and if any of said John's children, are minors at the time of such division, then my will is that their portion of the money be put to Interest, and paid over to them as they respectively become of age. I will that my farm on which I now reside, be as soon as convenient after my wifes decease or of mine if I survive her, sold at public sale to the highest and best bidder, and hslf of the purchase money to be cash and the balance in such sales as the executors of this will may decide most advantageous to be........by bonds and mortgage on the land, and that the proceeds of said lands (after paying necessary expenses) be divided as soon as collected by the executors, among my children, the children of my deceased son John amd my grand daughter Martha in manner following: To my daughter Elizabeth Rose, on eequal share being one eighth share of the whole To my daughter Susanna Rose, one like equal share To my son Peter one like equal share To my son Jacob one like equal share To the children of my deceased son John a like equal share to be equally divided among them. To my daughter Catharine Zandt a like equal share To my daughter Mary Shook a like eqaul share and to my grand daughter Martha, now living with me, one like eqaul share. It is my will that the sum of all notes of hand which may be in possesion at the time of decease shall be divided among my heirs aabove mentioned, share and share alike, in the manner as the proceeds of the land above mentioned. Also, it is my will, that all cash or ready money which may be in my possession at the time of my decease be given to my wife Catharine. And lastly, I ordain and make George Rose of Plum township County aforesaid, and Christian.........of Wilkins Township aforesaid executors of this my last will and testament whom I give and grant, and in whom I vest full power and authority to make as good clear and lawfull a title to my purchaser or purchasers of my said farm, as I myself might or could do were I living. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hands I seal the eithteenth day of August, Eighteen hundred and forty. Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Henry Shook to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto.
