Will of Samuel VanKirk will Book IV, Allegheny Co. Penna. Dated April 9, 1832 In the name of God amen. I Samuel VanKirk of the Township of Elizabeth in the County of Allegheny and the state of Pennsylvania being weak of body but of sound mind and memory Blefsed be God for the same and knowing the uncertainties of this transitory life Do make and Publish this my last Will and Testament. And first and principally of all I comment my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the descrision of my Executor herein after named and as to my worldly estate where with it has pleased God to blefs me in this life, after paying all my just debts and Funeral expenses I give and do have of in the following manner to Wit---. To my beloved Wife Mary VanKirk I give and bequeath One Good Feather Bed, bedding & Bed stand, twenty Dollars worth of House hold furniture such as she may choose and the choice of one Room of either of the houfses I now own with a decent and Gentiel comfortable living out of the profits of my Real estate during her natural life or as long as she remains my Widow ( x x ) she ( x x x x x ) confortable to live either with my sonSamuel or Joseph VanKirk, and in case she should not be disposed, to live with either of them. It is my will that she should receive the above bequest, with a Good Cow and thirty Dollars a year. Yearly and every year in half year payments, during her natural life or so long as she remains my Widow, the yearly payments to come out of the profits of my Real Estate, Which bequeaths I make in Lew of her Dower, Out of my personal Estate, I giving bequeath to my son William VanKirk one Dollar, to my son Isaac VanKirk five Dollars, to my son Thomas VanKirk twenty Dollars, to the representatives of my son John I bequeath three Dollars, To my daughter Sarah Wilson Twenty Dollars, to my Daughter Mary Scott three Dollars , To my Daughter Elizabeth Budd five Dollars, To my daughter Ruth Scott three Dollars, To my Daughter Susanna Means twenty Dollars. To my son Samuel VanKirk I give and bequeath all that Mifsuage House and farm Situated in the Township and County aforesaid Bounded by land of Alexander Wilson, Joseph VanKirk Sr, Isaac Wilson, John Holt and other containing Acres more or less with the Appertances, To him the said Samuel his heirs and afsigm forever, Subject never the lefs to the one half of the farmes of his Mother ( x ) and one room in the House provided his mother thinks proper to accept the bequest as above mentioned and choofses to live with him, otherwise Subject to her dower – To my son Joseph VanKirk I give and bequeath All that piece of Land I now live on with the appertance there into belong or in any were apportouning. Situated in the Township and County aforesaid where on is Erected or Dwelling House, Sawmill and Chaping mill, bounded by land of Joseph VanKirk Sr the heirs of Robert Polock and others to hold to him his heirs and afsigns forever Subject more –less to one half the ifsue of the Main Income of his Mother and one Room in the House for her if she finds proper to live with him if she accept of the above bequeaths in Lew of her Dower. If not subject to her dower only All the Render or Remainder of my Estate of what kind and nature so ever. I give and bequeth to my sons Samuel and Joseph VanKirk to share and share alike. Now in Case my Widow refuses to accept of the above mention bequest in Lew of her Dower. Then it is my Will that the farmes aboved mentioned to be paid to my elder sons and by my Daughters, shall go to my sons Samuel and Joseph VanKirk to share alike. [( x ) one Dollar to each ] as they in that case having already turned a sufficient share of my Estate. And lastly I constitute and appoint my son Samuel and Joseph VanKirk my executors of this last will and testament. Revoking all former wills by me made. In Wittness where of I have here into set my hand and seal this- ninth-- day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty two.
