Police Magistrate of Pittsburgh, by Mary Laugherty of Pittsburgh, mother of Katie Laugherty, who was born Jan. 5, 1886. For the past 3 months she has been beyond my control. The records of this department show that the said Katie Laugherty has been arrested before for larceny; numerous complaints have been made about her actions on the river bank with boys and men. She is also seen on the streets at all hours. Additional Comments: Notes made upon the girl's arrival at the Pennsylvania Reform School, Morganza: Katie Laugherty. Father dead 10 years. Mother Mary Laugherty 700 Norton, South Side, Pittsburgh. Sent here for staying out late at night and association with bad company. Was not well treated at home. Mother intemperate. Parent owns property. 1 older brother, no sisters. Illiterate. Swears, lies, steals. Does not use tobacco, is not intemperate. Has been arrested before.
