McKenna, Police Magistrate of Pittsburgh, by George Waggoner, Inspector of Police of Pittsburgh, against Albert Holtzman, a minor. his mother refuses to correct him. On Aug. 3, 1899, at 4 o'clock in the morning, said minor was found by the police trying to break in a store on the corner of High and 5th Avenue. The parents when notified refused to do anything except say that they wanted him sent to Morganza. He has been arrested before on the streets, does not work. George O'Neil deposes that he is Sergeant at the Central Police Station. Was present when the mother requested that he be sent to Morganza. He leads a vagrant life. William McShane, also a Sergeant at Central Station, corroborates the preceding statement. Additional Comments: Notes made at time of the boy's arrival at Pennsylvania Reform School at Morganza: Albert Holtzman, #5732. Father died when boy was small. Mother remarried to George Holtzman, an iron worker living on Shaffer St. 13th Ward, Pittsburg, Pa. Sent here for helping to break into a slot machine and staying out at night. Description: Height: 4'5", weight 71 pounds. Brown hair and eyes, medium complexion. No marks. Age 12 on Dec. 25, 1899; received Aug. 4, 1899. Born Penn. of German parentage. Lutheran. Neither parent intemperate; parents own property. 2 older brothers, 2 younger brothers; no sisters. Illiterate. Swears, lies, steals. Does not use tobacco, is not intemperate.
