Kecher, Justice of the Peace of Allegheny County, by Margaret Richards of the Borough of Homestead, the mother of Thomas Pearce, born June 27, 1884. He refuses to go to school, keeps company with other boys who are bad and vicious. At various times he has committed unlawful acts and on April 8, 1896 he stole some money from Parrys Liquor Store. His conduct is vicious and incorrigible. (signed) Margaret Richards William Richards of Homestead, husband of Margaret Richards and stepfather of Thomas Pearce, deposes that Thomas has at various times committed acts that were in violation of the law. Yesterday, Apr. 8, 1896, he went into Parrys Liquor Store and took some money. Additional Comments: Notes made at time of the boy's arrival at Pennsylvania Reform School, Morganza: Thomas Pearce, #5097, Division B. Father dead. Mother remarried to William Richards, an engineer at Homestead Mills living at Homestead, Pa. Sent here for stealing some money from till of Parry's Liquor House. Description: height, 4'7"; weight not given. Light red hair, light brown eyes, fair complexion. One vaccine mark on left arm. Age: 11 on June 27, 1896; received, Apr. 9, 1896. Born in Wales of Welsh parentage. Congregational. Stepgather intemperate; mother not intemperate. Parents do not own property. 3 younger brothers. Illiterate. Does not swear or lie.
