My son John Harris was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, in Sept. 1888. He has become incorrigible, will not stay at home, has been arrested time & again and is not in the Central Station, Pbh. Signed by mark; 514 Wicklow St., E E Pittsburgh, Pa. James Fuqua deposes that he is the husband of Cornelia Fuqua. Boy will not obey, etc. Additional Comments: Notes made at time of the boy's arrival at Pennsylvania Reform School, Morganza: John Harris, #5316, Division B. Father dead. Mother remarried to James Fuqua, a laborer at st(reet) carshed living at 514 Wicklow St., Pittsburgh, Pa. Sent here for running away from home, disobedience. Description: height, 4'7"; weight 65 pounds. Dark negro features, very full lips, one vaccine mark left arm. Age 10 Sept. 1897; received May 2, 1897. Born Va., of African parentage. Baptist. Stepfather intemperate. Mother not intemperate. Parents do not own property. 1 younger brother. Can read and write. Swears, lies. Does not steal or use tobacco. Is not intemperate.
