McGarry, Alderman of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, by Jacob McMillen of Pittsburgh, father of Edgar McMillen, born in Brownsville, Pa. on July 23, 1884. He will not attend school, stays out late at night. I have tried every thing possible to make a good boy of him. Address: 116 13th St. S S, Pittsburgh Frank Muller deposes: I live in the same dwelling with Edgar McMillen. I know that he does not attend school. He will not obey his father. I think if he was put under restraint for a while he would be a better boy. Additional Comments: Notes made at the time of the boy's arrival at Pennsylvania Reform School, Morganza: Edgar McMillen, No. 5301, Division C. Mother dead. Father, Jacob McMillen, an engineer in Garrison's Foundry living on 25th St., Pbg. So. Side, Pa. Sent here for not going to school, staying out at night. Description: height, 4' 8 1/2"; weight 72 pounds. Light brown hair, light brown eyes, fair complexion. Freckled on forehead and about nose. One vaccine mark on left arm. Scar from burn on right leg near groin. Age: 13 on July 23, 1897; received Mar. 30, 1897. Born in Penna. of American parentage. Methodist. Father intemperate. Parent does not own property. 1 older brother, 1 older sister. Can read and write. Swears, lies, uses tobacco. Does not steal, is not intemperate. Has been arrested before.
