Has run away from home several times. His mother and I wish him to be restrained in the Penna. Reform School. (signed) Al. Shay, 24 Albert St., 3rd (32?) Ward George E. Adams, Special Officer, states that said infant was arrested by the police as a vagrant and pleads guilty to the charge of vagrancy. (signed) Geo. E. Adams, No. 1 Police Station. Additional Comments: Notes made at the time of the boy's arrival at Pennsylvania Reform School, Morganza: Richard Curtis Shay, No. 5281, Division C. Parents living at 24 Albert St.t. Washington, Pittsburg, Pa. Father, Alman Shay, a jockey. Sent here for running away from home. Description: height, 4' 8 1/2"; weight, 79 pounds. Dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark complexion. Short and somewhat flat nose. One vaccine mark on left arm. Age 15 on Dec. 8, 1896; received Jan. 18, 1897. Born Ohio of American parentage. Methodist. Neither parent is intemperate; parents do not own property. 1 younger brother, 1 older sister, 3 younger sisters. Can read and write. Swears, uses tobacco. Does not lie or steal, is not intemperate.
